Beth Hurley

Beth's work is photographs of clothes on people, so the site is built to get out of their way. She adds a project or a photo set in the CMS and the site rebuilds without me.

Design, front-end development and content model. Beth supplied the content and copy.

Beth Hurley's homepage: her name and a Work, About, Photography menu above a two-column layout, with an About paragraph on the left and a photograph of a model in a black fascinator on the right.

Nearly every pixel on this site is a photograph, so the build keeps the type on one left axis and lets the images run to the edge. A row of frames shares a height rather than a shelf: each card's width comes from its own ratio, so a portrait and a landscape sit in the same row without being cropped to match.

Work pages carry a collection or an involvement with the role and credits beside it. Photography holds three sets, Japan plus black and white and colour film, each a board that reflows from one column on a phone to four on a desktop.

The content lives in Contentful and is read at build time. Publishing there fires a production rebuild, which is the part that matters to Beth: a new collection or photo set goes live without her asking anyone.

Outcome

Live at bethhurley.nz. Publishing in Contentful rebuilds production on its own, so a new collection goes up without a deploy from me.
