# Otto

Otto is a voice and text assistant for the Mac, built as a Swift app on top of the voice-os project.

[Source code ](https://github.com/Slaymish/Otto)[Original voice-os project](https://github.com/per-simmons/voice-os)

Development of a fork of per-simmons/voice-os. Swift migration, interface and learning integration.

![Otto’s native capability journal rendered with the original shipped app and music commands, in an offline demonstration.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnuj1c4o/production/1478878897d6150b7baa7984d2956a4338e6f422-1600x1050.png?w=1280\&q=80\&auto=format)

The voice connection, action handling and interface are in Swift now instead of a Python process, and the native engine holds the connection and action state that the interface shows.

Capabilities are indexed and sessions are logged, and a retrospective pass can propose phrasings or capabilities from a finished session, with a local Ollama model doing that step if you want it to.

Hotkeys, onboarding and a menu bar item mean you don't need a window open.

## State

Signed Mac releases with tests for the capability and session code. The readme credits the upstream project.
