# GrooveBox

A beat sequencer played with the computer keyboard, with patterns that can change while the loop runs.

[Source code](https://github.com/Slaymish/GrooveBox)

Independent development. Python, Pygame and C++ audio-engine work.

![Four tracks of sixteen steps with hits filled in, one snare hit in red.](https://cdn.sanity.io/images/qnuj1c4o/production/d2f4f7e6576bbd4105acab5343bc7c3985992bb4-1600x900.png?w=1280\&q=80\&auto=format)

Six pads loaded from samples/, patterns held per track so one track can switch on its own, scenes that bring back a combination of patterns, and a fill for varying a bar.

Python runs the sequencer and the interface, and a small C++ engine does the audio. Two backends exist because I couldn't decide between sounddevice and pygame's mixer.

## State

A working desktop instrument. It runs from source and nothing's packaged yet.
